There are three main religions in Ancient China: Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism.
The most popular religion was Taoism. This was the most popular religion because its belief in everything being equal. Its belief is also in nature and that the world doesn't alway consist of rules. It is the oldest Chinese religion dating back from the 6th century. It is said it was created from a man called Laois, and through his teaching he came up with the idea that everyone should be one with nature, hence the yin yang.
Another religion is Buddhism. It consists in belief in re-birth and has the idea of karma woven through the religion. Buddhism believes in spiritual development and meditation in lives. Apparently there is end of suffering for everyone who believes in buddhism. It was founded by an Indian prince, Siddhartha Gautama, who was later known as Buddha. He spent his savings to try to end the suffering between people, and as his teachings spread to China through India, he stated suffering is caused by its desires. (Symbol the Dharma wheel)
Confucianism is a religion which upholds the qualities of family values and resilience. Its beliefs are treating others with respect, honour, fairness and politeness. It was started from a man named Confucius, who had the idea of peace and happiness. He lived in time of war, at the Zhou Dynasty and though his methods of happiness and peace would only be achievable if certain rules were followed.
